The United Nations, UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported no evidence has been found suggesting Turkey has been negligent in controlling the spread of the disease since the country acted swiftly when the bird flu virus was first identified in October. FAO Animal Health Expert Juan Lubroth stated the virus identified in the northwestern Turkish region is different from the virus from the one identified in the previous three months in terms of its genetics.
